The main west entrance at Salt Rock Gap is reached by taking US 64 east from the Cashiers crossroads for 2 miles to Cedar Creek Road. The Cashiers Historical Society operates a five-acre campus on NC 107 South with four historic buildings, including the Zachary-Tolbert House, built around 1850 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
