Welcome to Nantahala Lake
The Nantahala River offers a range of experiences for outdoor enthusiasts. The last eight miles of the river are a popular destination for rafting and kayaking, while the upper reaches of the river offer excellent trout fishing.
The river is also home to a beautiful mountain lake, which offers boating, fishing, and other water activities. An unspoiled treasure of the Smoky Mountains, Nantahala Lake is a 1,800-acre lake nearly surrounded by federally protected forestlands. The lake was stocked with Kokanee salmon in the 1960s which have been naturally reproducing ever since along with a multitude of other species.
The area surrounding the river and lake is home to a variety of comfortable cabins, lodges, and vacation homes, making it a perfect destination for a peaceful getaway or an active vacation. The community consists of private, spacious lots which enjoy a common area with boat slips available. Once you have experienced the beauty and tranquility of the Nantahala, you are sure to want to return again and again.
